Red Devil through and through..... A History of Manchest er United and Me... Part 1... It's only th beginning

I have been a Manchester United fan since I first knew what soccer, or football, is about.  So let's say around 1985, for argument's sake.  I followed United because my dad followed Unitedm simple as that.  I was a Man Unitd fan when we were crap.  I was a Man United fan when winning the Milk Cup (now the League Cup) was the best we could hope for.

Boy how things have changed in the last 26 years.  Our first real great triumph, the victory that was really the taste of things to come, was the 1991 Cup Winner's Cup victory over Barcelona.  I got up early to watch that final.  Two goals from boyhood hero Mark "Sparky" Hughes to beat the superstars of Barcelona and I was in dreamland.

Of coure, glory was not immediate, as the next season, the final season that the English top flight was division 1, Leeds United, led my the cockiest of Frenchmen there ever was on the football field won the title.

That's when everything changed.  The First Division became the Premier League, was reduded to 22 teams, and Manchester United bought one Eric Cantona, the same cocky Frenchman that led Leeds United to the title a season before.

This was also when squad numbers and names on jerseys started to come into play. 7 CANTONA. A name and number that would start us on the road to glory.

Unitd were to win the title, our first in 26 years.

This was the championship table how it finished that fateful fateful season...

"You can't win anything with kids" we were told....the kids in the tam, the Scholes, the Giggs, the Nevilles, did win, and went on to win much much more. In the next blog, I will recount the building of a dynasty and one very heartbreaking end to a season.

Hope you enjoyed, feedback is welcome!

Who am I and what to expect here....

I'm Pete, I'm currently 31 and living in Melbourne, Australia. I'm Greek-Cypriot-Australian. That's about all the personal info you'll get out of me hahaha... for now anyway. My interests include football (soccer), poker (texas hold-em and omaha hi and hi-lo generally) pro wrestling, MMA, RPGs, computers, video games and being a couch potato.

What to expect in thsi blog? well hmmmm... basically random thoughts about the above-mentioned topics and anything else that springs to mind, maybe the occasional review/preview of stuff, some video gaming results, just about anything really.

I am a computer nerd, a nerd in general, reallym and proud, but hey the internet is my time to relax and forget my nerdness, so don't expect this thing to be perfect in anyway, and certainly don't expect it to be regular. You might get 20 in one week and then none for 6 months.

Well, so that's about it for now... Catch you all later... if anyone actually reads this HAHA.
